| | 5/22/2012 - ATLANTA – Georgia Secretary of State Brian Kemp announced today that qualifying information for State House and Senate, U.S. House, Statewide office holders and nonpartisan candidates for the July 31, 2012 Elections will be updated in real-time on the Secretary of State’s website (http://www.sos.ga.gov). Political party qualifying will be conducted in the Georgia State Capitol Wednesday, May 22nd (from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.), Thursday, May 23rd (from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.), and Friday, May 25th (from 8 a.m. to Noon). Nonpartisan qualifying will be conducted at the Secretary of State Election Division main office and the South Georgia office in Tifton.
“It is important that we provide candidate qualifying information as quickly and accurately as possible so Georgia voters can immediately know who is running to represent them in public office,” said Secretary Kemp. “We thank the political parties for working with the Secretary of State’s office to deliver this critical e-government solution.”

Brian Kemp was sworn in as Secretary of State in January 2010. Among the office’s wide-ranging responsibilities, the Secretary of State is charged with conducting efficient and secure elections, the registration of corporations, and the regulation of securities and professional license holders. The office also oversees the Georgia Archives.
