| | 3/7/2012 - Rep. Phil Gingrey, M.D., along with other members of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, yesterday unanimously passed the repeal of a key component of Obamacare, the Independent Panel Advisory Board (IPAB). Billed as a “cost-cutting measure” by the administration, the health care law mandates this panel be comprised of 15 bureaucrats who would determine what services Medicare patients receive.
“Since the passage of Obamacare, I have called for the repeal of this egregious violation of privacy and patient rights. As a physician with more than 30 years of experience, I consider the decision-making process between doctors and patients sacrosanct. Health care choices, sometimes life-threatening, belong in the hands of the patient, their family, and their doctor—not unelected bureaucrats tasked with saving Uncle Sam money. The repeal of IPAB is a vital step in ensuring medical care does not further fall under the purview of the federal government.”
The bill now awaits consideration by the full House of Representatives.
