I would like to inform everyone of the truth, the truth behind the lies of the corporate media. No matter what you have seen, no matter what you have heard, I am here to tell you what you will not see or hear on local news stations.
We are getting kicked out of our homes. We are forced to choose between groceries and rent. We are denied quality medical care. We are suffering from environmental pollution. We are working long hours for little pay and no rights, if we're working at all. We are getting nothing while the other 1 percent is getting everything. We stand together United as the 99%. We the people CAN and WILL make a difference in America. Stand together and let your voice be heard. We will only grow stronger in our solidarity and we will be heard, not just in New York, but in echoes across the world.
“Don’t you know they’re talking about a revolution, while they’re standing in the welfare lines, crying at the door steps of those armies of salvations, wasting time in the unemployment lines, sitting around waiting for a promotion. Don’t you know they’re taking about a revolution and it sounds like a whisper. Poor people are going to rise up and get their share, poor people are going to rise up and take what’s theirs, and finally the tables are starting to turn. Don’t you know they’re talking about a revolution!” ~Tracy Chapman
Let me start by telling you why I feel so strongly about this and why I think more people need to get involved. I am almost 30 years old and I have 2 children ages 5 and 2. I have moved 8 times in 5 years, my husband is a hard working man trying to find jobs when his fails him. I remember when I got pregnant with our first child we didn't struggle, we had money to pay our bills, buy new clothes, go out to eat, and buy $200.00 a week in groceries.
Now we struggle to pay our bills, buy school clothes for the kids, keep gas in the car, buy christmas & other holiday stuff, I had to put my kids on medicaid and foodstamps, tried to buy a house with 6 acres and because I had no credit I couldn't even get a loan with or without a co signer.
I don't know how I will even be able to put my kids through college when they are old enough if the country keeps going the way it is, if nobody stands up and says "Hey, I'm not taking this anymore, corporate America will not steal, cheat, and lie and get away with it! Not with my money!!"
I worked hard putting money into social security for no other reason than when I retire or if I get hurt or sick I would have a back up, right? What about my son who was diagnosed with Autism spectrum, anxiety, adhd, sensory processing disorder? My son has to suffer because they bailed out the banks of corporate America and have nothing left to help those who paid it in? Why should my son struggle while their children are getting the best medical treatment from my hard earned dollars?
Now we need you, young or old, to stand up for you, your children, your grandchildren, your aunts, uncles, and neighbors! Tell your story, tell them how rough you have had it, tell them your neighbors story of losing their house, job, and life savings. Just do what has to be done because we the people are too big to fail. Nothing will change unless we make a stand and let them know that we are done giving them our money, we are done with not having medical treatment when we are sick, we are done standing in lines at the unemployment office or welfare office, we need change, we need jobs, we need our lives back and a better life for our children because they are our future!
If you would like to help with the movement please contact me via e-mail at Occupy_pickens_county@yahoo.com. We are on Facebook too at Occupy Pickens County Georgia. Start a movement in your county by creating a group and emailing local news papers. Don't just sit there and do nothing let your voice be heard it’s your first amendment right.
