| | | 11/24/2009 - On Saturday, Nov. 21, over 100 North Georgia/Carolina Patriots boarded a bus at the Jasper Ingles and other cities or drove their cars to the Atlanta Capitol steps to state their opinion on the impending health care bill. The march was sponsored by Docs4PatientCare which is an organization formed by thousands of doctors from across America who believe the current proposed healthcare legislation would be harmful to their patients and is unconstitutional.
Many doctors spoke during the rally, all agreeing that the legislation will not be in the best interests of their patients and unconstitutional. The statements are founded upon the argument that healthcare is not a right enshrined by the Constitution, and that by mandating health insurance for every American, Congress is overstepping the authority granted to it by the Constitution. For one, they say, the commerce clause which gives Congress powers to regulate commerce among states does not give Congress the authority to regulate healthcare, which is about well-being.
A bill legislating a tax on Americans who refuse to buy healthcare insurance violates the 16th Amendment, which regulates how government can raise and spend taxes. A tax that falls exclusively on anyone who is uninsured is a penalty beyond the authority of Congress. The Patriots are a non-partisan civic educational organization that alerts American citizens to impending legislation and ordinances that infringe on their constitutional freedom and liberties founded by Nighta Davis.
