| | | 11/11/2009 - Pickens County resident, Bert Loftman, a retired doctor, announced his candidacy for Georgia’s 9th District Congressional seat Tuesday. Loftman said he enters this crucial race because Washington politicians are leading us by the nose to disaster. When he looks at platforms of other candidates in the race, he sees politics as usual, Loftman said. Loftman joins a large field of candidates who have entered the Republican race for this Congressional seat since longtime office-holder, Nathan Deal, announced his run for governor earlier this year. “Our original Constitution produced the most prosperous and free country that the world had ever seen,” Loftman wrote in his press release. “Our original Constitution had no income tax or inflation tax. These taxes weaken the American people and strengthen the government. The result is a bloated, arrogant, meddling government that is taking the shirt off our backs.” Loftman, who has studied these things, concludes that to change course we must focus on doing three things: • Replace the federal income tax with the FairTax • End The Federal Reserve Bank and its inflation tax • Honor our Constitution When conservative Republicans send Loftman to Washington, he will join like-minded Congressmen such as John Linder, Tom Price, and Ron Paul in the fight to reclaim America. Dr. Loftman moved to Pickens County ten years ago and retired from medical practice in 2005. He and his wife of forty-six years have three children and five grandchildren. Loftman served his country as a U.S. Army physician in Vietnam. He continues to serve his community as a volunteer in medical clinics, as a leader, worker, and instructor concerning the environment, and as a major supporter of the arts and his church. Loftman’s campaign slogan is “KEEP YOUR SHIRT, VOTE FOR BERT”. For more information on Loftman, log on to: http://bloftman.net/ga9/Home.html.
